Woman to complete 5-day trek with 3-legged dog
Camping insurance may be a must-have for one woman who is planning to scale three mountain summits in aid of charity.
Jennifer Keighley told the Westmorland Gazette how she and her pet dog Troika are planning to attempt to complete the Cumbria Way.
The feat may be particularly difficult for the pooch as he only has three legs after one had to be amputated following a bad break as a puppy.
Speaking about her beloved animal, Ms Keighley said: “He is now seven and, through love and care, is still in great shape and has climbed many of the Lakeland Fells.”
The trek will see the pair walk 70 miles and camp out in the Cumbrian wilderness as they raise money for dogs’ charity Tailwaggers Club Trust.
Ms Keighley has estimated that the challenge will take five days to complete and she has already received more than £200 in donations from well-wishers.
