Wiltshire canal boats experience series of break-ins
Canal boat owners in Wiltshire have been urged to introduce additional security measures after the area has experienced a raft of break-ins over the last seven days.
Valuable items from two boats in Bradford on Avon were stolen on Monday (March 11th) night, with another theft in neighbouring Trowbridge also reported between 8am and 6pm on the same day.
Police have passed on the list of stolen goods to surrounding businesses in an attempt to raise awareness and prevent any products being sold on, the Wiltshire Times reported.
Missing items include two gold rings, a mountain bike, a camera and an Apple iPad and laptop, which all might have to be claimed on the individuals' canal boat insurance policy.
Another bicycle was also reported missing from a lock in Semington the following day, after the door of the boat was broken.
Owners in the area will be offered help and advice by the Waterways Authority and additional police patrols along the towpaths have been enforced.
