Thief steals golf clubs from pensioner
One pensioner may be forced claim on his golf insurance after his clubs were stolen during a burglary.
Police are appealing for information about the theft and warned that the thieves may attempt to sell the goods as a “suspiciously” low price, the Northern Echo reports.
A burglar broke into the outhouse of a property located in Delves Lane near Consett sometime between the evening of April 4th and early hours of April 5th.
It was said that a full set of Callaway clubs, given to the 77-year-old homeowner as a gift from his late wife, were taken from the building.
They were thought to be valued at around £1,000 and anyone with knowledge of the incident is asked to contact Consett police station with details.
A number of items of gardening equipment are also thought to have been taken.
Elsewhere, the Mansfield and Ashfield Chad recently reported that police have warned residents to store expensive items such as golf clubs in the house after a spate of shed burglaries.
