Somerset caravan site to expand
A park in Somerset will soon be able to take in more caravan insurance customers after its expansion plans were approved.
North Somerset Council has given planning permission to Stonebridge Farm, which will see the number of caravan pitches at the site increased by 15 to 55, the Weston, Worle and Somerset Mercury reports.
Council members decided the proposal will not damage the surrounding countryside and voted unanimously in favour of the move.
“I think we should support diversity of the countryside which is appropriate,” councillor Tim Marter remarked, adding Stonebridge Farm helps generate trade for businesses in the nearby village of Barnwell, which is a 15-minute walk away.
The site is popular with caravan insurance customers, as it is generally fully booked for half of the peak season.
It is located within 20 miles of Bristol, Cheddar and Glastonbury and six miles from Weston-Super-Mare on the west coast of England.
