Simon King to open caravan show
Springwatch presenter Simon King is to open the Scottish Caravan, Motorhome & Holiday Home Show in Glasgow next month.
The television personality, who is a caravan enthusiast, will get proceedings underway at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre on February 7th, the Evening Times reports.
Over 150 companies will have a presence at the show to display their latest caravans, motorhomes and accessories. It will utilise all five halls of the venue and organisers note that, for the first time, one of the halls will be dedicated to accessories.
A wide variety of manufacturers and suppliers are likely to be in attendance, so those who head along will be able to pick up accessories, or potentially take out a more competitive caravan insurance policy.
Mr King, who presents BBC shows such as Springwatch and Autumnwatch, is a member of the caravan club and owns a Green Bailey Orion, which he regularly uses to travel around the UK.
He is a member of the Caravan Club and head of the body Nikki Nichol was quoted by Caravan Times as saying the television personality was a "natural choice" to open the show.
"Simon is one of our most celebrated members," she remarked, adding: "It's great that he will be able to welcome both our Club members and show visitors to this fantastic Scottish Show on Caravan Club Day."
The event runs until February 10th and attendees will be able to receive free lessons on towing a caravan or driving a motorhome from the Caravan Club, which is offering 20-minute taster sessions. Those who want to take part will need to bring their driving license.
Furthermore, visitors who want to try something different can tackle the seven-metre high climbing wall from Climb It – which is suitable for all ages – as well as visit the Famer's Market held in Hall 2, where local produce will be on offer.
