Security warning issued after caravan thefts

Police in Worcestershire have issued security tips and advice to caravan owners in the region after a spate of thefts in the area.

Two caravans were stolen from storage at Great Comberton Golf Club, in Pershore Road, in January and a Hobby Prestige 650 KFU touring caravan was stolen from outside a house in Inkberrow on February 4th.

Inspector Janet Heritage called on caravan owners to step up their efforts to protect their property, reports the Worcester News.

She said: "We recommend owners fit wheel locks, hitch locks, tracking devices and any other available security equipment to their caravans to deter thieves and help us track them down.

"One of the stolen caravans was successfully traced because it was fitted with a tracking device."

A further two caravans were towed away and stolen from a storage facility in Eckington, Pershore, between 21:30 GMT on February 5th and 05:45 GMT the following morning.

Anyone with information about these caravan thefts is asked to contact police in South Worcestershire by calling the non emergency number 101.

Caravan holidays have become increasingly popular in the UK in recent years as tourists cut down their budgets for breaks away.
