Rose may not make Ryder Cup team

The Ryder Cup team will need to be decided this summer as the European side will be competing at Celtic Manor in October this year. Justin Rose has aired his concerns that he may not make the team as he is up against a very strong group of English men all hoping to be named in the team. Fellow Englishmen Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter and Paul Cassey are ranked fourth, fifth and sixth respectively and so Justin Rose who currently stands at number 58 in the world will have his work cut out if he is to be included in the team. Colin Montgomerie will name his team in the summer 2010. Until then it is up to the golf players to prove to him that they deserve to be included.

Justin Rose recently finished third in the Honda Classic at Palm Beach Gardens in Florida. Rose said “I think I’m ranked eighth in England now. I’d struggle to make the Ryder Cup team. I feel like I’m a pretty good player, so that speaks volumes for how strong English golf is right now. The Ryder Cup is really important to me but I don’t feel like I can focus on it right now. It’s a weird thing. For me to get into the Ryder Cup, I need to not worry about the Ryder Cup, if that makes any sense. The Ryder Cup will take care of itself if I play well.”
