RAF mascot gets a new horsebox
Pegasus is a Shetland pony who was chosen to become the Parachute Regiment’s mascot. He has to attend several engagements a year in order to support the Regiment. However, last year his horsebox was condemned and therefore he had no travel unless he borrowed some from friends and family. Pegasus is named after the winged horse in Greek mythology and often tours the UK with Regiment. Pegasus lives in Colchester Garrison Saddle Club in Forham and is 13 years old. He got the best surprise last month when Equi-Trek presented him and his owner with a brand new horse box enabling him to travel in comfort and style. Pegasus now can travel in a top of the range, state of the art maroon and silver horsebox. Lieutenant Colonel John Handford said “Alongside the Red Devils freefall team and th regimental band, the mascot is very important to us, and highly popular with the public. This will ensure he takes his rightful place at many ceremonial events and military shows.”
