Police warning issued after camera theft
Police in the south of England have urged van owners to be on their guard after a spate of break-ins around the Copthorne area.
Officers revealed that a Transit van parked in Hollands Way, East Grinstead, was broken into between October 18th and 20th.
Criminals stole items such as a camera, tools and a sat nav from the vehicle, reports Redhill and Reigate Life.
PCSO Anika Clough warned van owners: "Please do not leave anything of value in your vehicle and ensure it is locked."
She also pointed out that they ought to try to park their vehicles in a "well-lit, open location" and use an alarm and an immobiliser to protect their van.
Investing in camera insurance could also be an important step for those who have devices they want to leave in their vehicles and keep them safe.
Camera thefts can be a serious crime and drug addict Terry Payne, who stole items from Merry Hill shopping centre, was recently jailed for 26 months, the Express and Star reported.
