Pet blessing ceremony ‘was awesome’, says reverend
A ceremony in which parishioners were invited to bring along all creatures great and small was described by the reverend overseeing the proceedings as "awesome", pet insurance policyholders may be intrigued to learn.
Reverend Katharine Bland noted that the event in Penwortham attracted people from throughout the community, reports the Lancashire Evening Post.
"It was lovely to [see] cats and dogs being friends for an hour and all the pets were very well behaved – we had no accidents," she commented.
Among those in attendance at the event were local Scouts and Brownies, many of whom brought along their furry, feathered and scaly friends.
During the ceremony, the animals were blessed by Reverend Bland, who stated that the turnout was impressive.
A similar church gathering was held for pet insurance customers and animal lovers in the parish of Sonning and Charvil last month.
The Wokingham Times cited lay minister Bob Peters, who revealed that a vet was on hand to ensure the spiritual and physical needs of attendees were catered for.
