Overseas wedding ‘increasingly popular’
The number of couples taking out overseas wedding insurance may have risen as one expert claims more individuals are getting hitched abroad.
Philippa Onslow, media sales manager at Wedding TV, explained how holding ceremonies in foreign countries is becoming increasingly popular.
She suggested that the increasing cost of tying the knot is spurring many brides and grooms-to-be into looking further afield.
“It is much cheaper to get married abroad and you can still have such a beautiful wedding,” Ms Onslow stated.
Among the most popular destinations are islands in the Caribbean and Indian Ocean, she noted.
However, those considering exchanging vows closer to home may want to look into locations such as Crete, Italy and Cyprus.
According to Ms Onslow getting married in Europe allows couples to have more people at their big day, while still enjoying a celebration abroad.
Recent research by HSBC revealed that weddings cost twice as much as people think, with individuals estimating the expense of a ceremony to be £8,627 instead of the reality of £19,779.
