Music icon helps out at cat protection branch
Former rock star Rick Wakeman has offered his services to Bury St Edmunds Cats Protection, cattery insurance policy holders may be intrigued to hear.
The musician – famed for his prowess on the keyboard – has become a volunteer at the centre, the Ipswich Evening Star reports.
Wakeman clearly has a fondness for felines, as he adopted his own animal George from the branch.
The former YES performer was keen to show his support for the charity, after it had appealed for more help from local volunteers.
He told the publication: “Cats Protection does a great job of looking after and finding new homes for unwanted moggies and I urge cat-lovers to come forward and help in any way they can.”
Wakeman has a strong fan base thanks to his work as a musician, stage performer and a number of TV appearances.
A website dedicated to the personality – RWCC.com – is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.
