Motorists advised not to service their own cars
Recent figures show that the economic downturn has led to an increase in the number of people servicing their own vehicles.
Kwik-Fit found that 35% of drivers will carry out the service themselves, despite 69% stating that they would not be confident enough to do it.
David White, customer services director at Kwik-Fit, said ‘Modern cars are increasingly reliant on computer technology so there are fewer tasks under under the bonnet suitable for an amateur enthusiast as they won’t have the neccesary equipment.’
Consequently, Kwik Fit have estimated that 1.25 million cars could be suffering as a result of poorly services DIY jobs.
