Man prosecuted for damaged caravan tyre
Caravan insurance customers may want to ensure their tyres on their mobile home are in a good condition after hearing about the plight of one man.
Kevin Hill, from Wollaton, was prosecuted at Nottingham Crown Court after he towed his caravan for more than a mile despite one of its wheels being down to its hub, the Nottingham Post reports.
He was said to have been driving a van and towing the unit from Sandiacre to Stapleford Road at just five mph.
“This was an utterly stupid thing to do, to try and move this caravan. I’m not sure in fact if it qualifies that description,” said Judge Michael Stokes upon sentencing Mr Hill.
He added that the man’s actions had been dangerous and put the safety of other road users at risk as well as his own.
The news comes after Etyres recently warned caravan owners that there has been a revision to guidelines about the correct pressure for mobile homes.
