Lady Gaga Brings the Polaroid Camera Back
Yesterday Polaroid Corporation launched a new generation of instant camera called the Polaroid 300.
Lady Gaga was appointed Creative Director of the Polaroid 300 to make sure that the new product branding is retro chic and will appeal to a younger generation as well to its original fans. The camera has been remodelled into a sleek and compact piece of kit with an automatic flash and four scene settings that comes in blue, red or black.
Joel Meyerowitz, award winning photographer, said: ‘My enthusiasm for the return of instant is beyond description. Polaroid photography has been a significant factor in my career and I am thrilled that it will continue in my future.’
It’s stakeholders are hoping it will spark a global photographic movement, which they have called the Polaroid Movement. Giovanni Tomaselli, Managing Director of the Summit Global Group, the exclusive worldwide licensee for the Polaroid 300, said: ‘We are thrilled that today marks the return of instant. It’s bigger and better than ever.’The Polaroid Movement is one that we heartfully embrace and intend to build upon by reaching the creative community and global Polaroid fans alike.’
The launch has also been greeted with enthusiasm within the industry.
