Kayaker rescued by lifeboat crew
A man may have been saved from having to make a kayak insurance claim after he was rescued by Ilfracombe lifeboat crew.
The emergency crews were called to the scene after the kayaker repeatedly fell off his vessel in Hele Bay.
A concerned member of the public called for help and the inshore lifeboat, the Deborah Brown II, was launched and assisted the kayaker on Hagginton Beach.
The crew discovered the man was new to the sport and was a first-time kayaker, who was struggling to stay upright after several attempts.
After offering to help the kayaker back to shore, the man decided to call it a day and avoid any more pounding from the waves.
The canoeist was invited out to experience kayaking by his boss, who regularly enjoyed the pastime.
