Kayaker enters 300-mile race to raise cancer awareness
One man who may want to consider taking out kayak insurance is American Brad Lockhart.
The skin cancer survivor is set to embark on a 300-mile journey to raise awareness of the condition, WALB News reports.
Mr Lockhart will paddle his kayak from Tampa to Key Largo Florida in the Everglades Challenge 2011.
The event is scheduled to take place on March 5th and the time limit for competitors to complete the race is eight days.
However, it is estimated that the frontrunners will cover the distance in between two to four days.
The event is the qualifier for the Ultimate Florida Challenge, which sees kayakers travel 1,200 miles alongside small sailboats and canoes.
Describing his reason for entering, Mr Lockhart said: “I’m hoping the distinct adventure of 300-miles paddling will be a catalyst, we can say ‘hey look be in tune with your body as moles change and develop go see a doctor’.”
