Two cats travel over 1000km from home
Two cats were found in Coleraine, County Londonderry and were taken to a vet in Limavady to be medically checked over. The vets have tried to contact the
cats owners but to no avail. The cats, now named Stu and Chris have been micro-chipped and tattooed in Germany. Michael Forgie, a vet at Roe Valley Veterinary
Clinic said “we realised when we scanned them they had a microchip, and a tattoo which is done in Germany and relevant to Germany. The central agency
that deals with microchips, Petlog, were able to tell us they came from Germany.”
Maggie Bobby from the North-West Pet Rescue and Re-homing Centre have been helping to track down the cats owners. She believes that she knows the owners
name and address but cannot get in touch at the moment. Maggie commented, “They are beautiful, the most lovely cats you could meet. If we can’t find the
owners, we would love to find a good home for them.”
The owners of Stu and Chris are asked to call Roe Valley Vets on 028777 62528.
This story shows how important microchipping is. For these cats to have been microchipped it shows that the owners obviously cared a lot for them and it
is a mystery why they have ended up in Ireland. E&L insurance recommend getting your cat microchipped to help identify your cat if they were to wander off
and get lost or stolen. Cats have it in their nature to be adventurous and so getting insured is crucial. Cat insurance from E&L offer an advertising and reward cost
if your cat were to go missing. You can also benefit from membership to the National Pet Register for a one off payment of £1. This is a
24 hour service which aims to reunite missing pets with their owners. E&L cat insurance starts online from as little as £3.60 a month.
