Dotty the donkey decorated for bravery
A donkey called Dotty has received a People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals (PDSA) certificate for animal bravery.
Pet insurance customers who own a donkey may be impressed to learn that when a dog attacked Stanley the sheep – who shares a paddock with Dotty – the equine did not run in fear.
According to onlookers, the courageous creature rushed at the canine and pinned him to the ground until it released the sheep.
Commenting on the brave actions of Dotty, senior veterinary surgeon at the PDSA Elaine Pendlebury said: “Donkeys are very stoical and protective animals.
“Often when faced with a threat they will rise up to face their enemy, in this case an aggressive dog.”
Those who are considering getting a donkey to help protect their own animals may want to take out pet insurance to help meet any vet bills incurred if their furry friend becomes sick or is injured.
Earlier this year, Time magazine featured Magic the miniature mare in its list of the world’s top ten heroic animals.
