Daredevil kayakers spark calls to emergency services
Three daredevil sportsmen may have invested in kayak insurance ahead of a stunt that sparked panic in Alabama.
The trio were spotted plunging 30 metres down Noccalula Falls in a feat that was captured on video camera and later uploaded online.
However, eye witnesses were concerned about the welfare of the men and rang emergency services to alert them to the incident.
"I'd like to report some crazy people going over the falls," a park ranger supervisor is said to have told the operator.
None of the kayakers were injured and they later explained how they have been taking part in the sport for a long time and studied the drop zone and water levels before deciding to carry out the stunt.
According to legend, the falls are named after the daughter of an Indian chief whose heartbroken daughter jumped to her death over the waterfall after being told she would endure an arranged marriage.
