Charity bike theft leaves family devastated
A family in the north-east of England have stated they are devastated after the theft of a bike.
The £700 gun metal-grey Cube Hybrid mountain bike was bought by Gary Sullivan so he could take part in a coast-to-coast ride to raise money for two charities that helped to support his terminally ill son Dan Sullivan, who died in October last year.
Gary's wife Gillian Sullivan told the Hartlepool Mail that the theft – which also saw an £800 boiler part taken – is "upsetting" for the family.
"We've had a couple of rubbish years and we were hoping this year might go without event, but then this happens," she said.
It was stated the family noticed the bike was missing on Saturday morning (January 5th) at about 10:00 GMT.
British Transport Police recently released a number of CCTV images of individuals they want to speak to in connection with bike thefts.
Victims of this type of crime may need to make a claim on their cycle insurance.
