Caravan park to boost Fenland tourism
Tourism in Fenland is expected to rise after the area's Fields End Water Caravan Park and Fishery won a major prize.
It has been named the best site in the Heart of England region in this year's AA Caravan and Camping Awards.
Owner Charlie Boughton, who is also a member of the Fenland Tourism Board, stated that everyone from the caravan park is "delighted" to have been picked out for the prize.
He said: "It's a big pat on the back for us – a real achievement. But what's really great is that it's more recognition for Fenland which hopefully will help to bring more people here. That's got to be good for the whole local economy."
Mr Boughton added that travellers who decide to head to Fields End Water Caravan Park and Fishery can expect to enjoy "peace, open space, big skies".
Councillor Pop Jolley, Fenland District Council's Cabinet member responsible for leisure and tourism, described the award as "great" and suggested it could raise the profile of the region.
Among the facilities at Fields End Water Caravan Park and Fishery is a shop that sells bait suitable for its lakes, as well as tea and coffee snacks and sweets for guests.
