Caravan fire almost causes road closure
The owners of a mobile home that caught fire in Chessington may have to claim on their caravan insurance policy.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Chessington Equestrian Centre and were almost forced to close the A3 due to a danger to the public, the Kingston Guardian reports.
However, the blaze was contained and traffic was able to continue as normal, while fire fighters attempted to put out the flames.
A police spokesperson explained that an exclusion zone had to be set up after oxycetalyne propane tanks were found and concerns were raised about an explosion.
“The A3 was about to be closed but it was decided not to because the risk went down when they put water on the tanks,” the representative stated.
It is understood the caravan was used for storage and no animals or people were injured in the blaze.
Elsewhere, the View Online recently reported that police in Bridport were appealing for witnesses after a suspect arson attack on a caravan on Jessop Avenue.
