Brean strip ‘among largest caravan areas’
The Brean strip is among the most popular areas in the country to go on a caravan holiday.
This is according to Bob Nicholson, who was awarded an MBE in the Queen's New Year Honours List, reports This is the West Country.
Mr Nicholson was given the award for his work as chairman of the Somerset Tourism Association for 25 years, a period that saw Sedgemoor Tourism Association grow to include the whole of Somerset.
"The Brean strip alone has become one of the largest caravan and camping areas, attracting 30,000 visitors a week during peak season," he said.
Mr Nicholson added tourism is vital to the area's economy and sustains in excess of 30,000 jobs.
Louise Wood, a spokeswoman for trade body the National Caravan Council, recently stated people who go on caravan holidays are seeking a home away from home during their break.
She explained holiday parks were not busy this summer due to the weather.
