Boat severely damaged in fire
A boat moored in Dartside Boat Park at Galmpton has been damaged in a blaze, with reports suggesting it could have incurred serious damage.
The owner could be forced to call on his boat insurance to fund repairs following the occurrence, which was first noticed at 03:00 this morning (July 3rd).
By the time the fire crews arrived from Brixham the boat had been aflame for some time, according to This Is South Devon.
A fire service spokesman said the blaze took "a considerable time" to put out, citing the glass fibre material and the fact that the fire had several hotspots across its surface as key factors in this.
Although investigations are ongoing as to what caused the fire, it is currently being treated as an accident.
The Cumbria News and Star recently reported that an oxy-propane torch was responsible for causing a fire on an old fishing boat in the area, indicating the care boat owners should take with their vessels.
