Blue Cross celebrates 1,000th adoption through cat fostering scheme
The charity launched the initiative in 2007 in order to help care for and find new homes for cats and kittens in areas where there are no Blue Cross adoption centres.
Rachel Brearley of Wakefield was provided with eight cat chalets in her garden to care for felines in the area and has so far found new homes for 395 moggies.
Ms Brearley said she was delighted to have been able to play a part in giving so many animals a second chance.
"The dedication of our volunteers on behalf of the Blue Cross is incredible. We just would not have reached this fantastic milestone without their commitment, energy and enthusiasm," Blue Cross volunteer co-ordinator Michelle Smith said.
The Blue Cross is celebrating its Silver Jubilee this year and is using its annual fete to mark the occasion on September 3rd.
