Bikes to be recycled to help encourage community cycling

A team of solicitors are planning to help fundraisers get on their bikes for charity this summer.

According to the Leigh Reporter, staff at the local branch of Forster Dean intend to take in donations of damaged or unwanted cycles during the month of July.

The two-wheelers will then be taken to Warrington-based organisation Cycling Projects where they will be repaired and sold to raise money for a range of community initiatives.

These will include schemes designed to make bike riding accessible to as many people as possible and to promote health, fitness and environmental benefits.

Cycling Projects manager Ian Tierney explained how once the bicycles have been restored to their "former glory" they will be offered to community members with the most need.

The organisation was registered in 1991 and since it started it has become increasingly involved in cycle related training for disabled people and those with poor health.
