Bike stolen in Portadown

A public appeal for information has been launched following the theft of a cycle in Portadown.

Police have asked anyone who knows anything about the incident, which occurred in Mandeville Road on January 2nd, to come forward.

According to a report by the Portadown Times, the victim reported the theft of the red Townsend mountain bike at around 13:50 GMT.

They had left the model outside a bookmaker's shop in the area and when they returned, it had been taken by an unknown person.

The victim may need to make a claim on their cycle insurance in order to be able to buy a replacement for the stolen bike.

Safety advice was recently issued to cyclists in Aberdeen after figures revealed 500 bikes were stolen in six months in the area.

Nick Thom, local policing inspector, told STV bike theft is a problem for many local cyclists.
