Beware of poisonous substances, pet owners warned
Poisonous substances are something pet owners may wish to be aware of if they are keen to avoid making a claim on their pet insurance.
According to boston.com, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals claims human medication is the main cause of poisoning incidents among animals.
As a result, Petplan veterinarian Dr Jules Benson said medicines should be kept out of a dog’s reach at all times.
Pesticides can cause problems, the news provider continued, while food eaten by humans such as chocolate and grapes may also make furry friends sick.
“And pets, like kids, really don’t know what’s good or bad for them,” Dr Benson continued.
The expert urged owners to use their common sense and even ensure rubbish bags are tied up securely to prevent creatures from digging around inside.
Speaking to This Is Kent recently, canine-friendly cafe owner Joanna Growns said she prefers holistic dog foods because they contain much nicer ingredients.
