Beatles’ Abbey Road piano for sale
The Challen piano used by the Beatles and other bands at Abbey Road studios in the 1960s is up for auction next month and is expected to fetch around £150,000. It is now a battered old piano, covered in coffee stains and cigarette burns and was purchased by the studios back in 1964 and retired in 1980. It used to be in studio three, the smallest studio at Abbey Road and the Beatles often used it and also recoded certain songs using the piano. Other bands, such as Pink Floyd, are also tinkled this now famous piano’s ivories. The auction will be held at Vintage Goodwood, West Sussex on 15th August 2010.
