£10m investment for caravan park
Yorkshire tourism could be given a boost after the allocation of £10 million for investment at a Hull caravan site has been confirmed.
The Patrington Haven Caravan and Leisure Park recently announced its successful application to extend the opening season from ten months to 11 months.
Development will be an ongoing five-year phase after the owners doubled the original investment figure of £5 million, which was used last year to provide a number of state-of-the art facilities.
The site now has a country club, gym and spa, as well as a restaurant, bar, lounge and all-weather sports court.
Managing director Guy Sparkes said the additional investment and longer season will boost the local economy and give south-east Holderness "a greater potential as a tourist destination".
"Sometimes to get ahead you have to aim for something special and reach for your aspirations and potential by building for the future," he added.
Earlier this month, Derbyshire's Clover Fields Touring Caravan Park was named the best site in its region.
Ranked in the top 100 in the country, the winner of the Heart of England category was given the Practical Caravan magazine's prize at an event held in Birmingham.
