Excess
The excess is the amount you pay towards a claim. It is £49 for all sections except Public Liability where it is £250. The excess is double for claims under all sections for area codes D and E and Worldwide.

- Do I need to fit locks to my room?
- No, you don't need to fit any additional security. However, you have a 'duty of care' to take all reasonable steps to prevent accidents, loss and damage.

- How much cover do I need on my student insurance policy?
- Many students underestimate the value of goods they have taken away to university. When choosing the level of cover remember to include the value of musical equipment, TV equipment, camera, domestic appliances such as kettles and toasters, and personal items such as clothes, shoes and jewellery. The total sum to insure may add up to more than you think!

- We insure student possessions between £2500 and £8000.

- The single item limit is 25% of the sum insured.

- Where are my belongings insured?
- Your belongings are insured whilst they are at: (a) your term-time address, (b) your parents' home(s) and in direct transit to and from home during the university holidays.
