Photographic Equipment Insurance

What information do you need to start cover?
As well as asking you for your full contact details we require details of the risk address where the equipment is stored and a list of equipment valued at over £50 including makes models and values. We require serial numbers for those items over £1000 although allow you 21 days to provide these serial numbers.
Do you insure studios?
We are able to cover the equipment in the studio although not the building itself.
What is the minimum/maximum age?
Applicants must be aged over 18 years old with no maximum age limit.
What is the maximum value you insure?
We can provide cover for equipment up to a value of £20,000.
Is there an excess on this policy?
Yes, the excess on this policy is 7.5% of the insured loss with a minimum of £150 for claims under all sections . With regards to theft from a vehicle or certain types of public areas the excess becomes 12.5% of the insured loss with a minimum of £250 for claims under all sections. The excess is doubled for overseas claims. An excess of £250 applies to all public liability claims.
Are there any items you cannot cover?
We cover most items with the exception of consumables such as batteries, films, bulbs, leads, memory cards and cables. Laptop equipment and computers can be covered if they are used in conjunction with the photographic equipment and business.
Are there any security requirements needed for the risk address?
Yes, please see the list of security requirements.
Do I need any specific security on my vehicle or where I keep my equipment?
Yes, full details are provided within the policy wording.
Am I covered if I lend, loan or hire my equipment to another person?
No, the cover is only applicable to you.
Is my equipment covered whilst I am abroad?
30 days worldwide cover is included as standard on the policy. Should you wish to extend the duration beyond 30 days we provide an Optional Worldwide cover extension.
Can you cover camcorders, binoculars/telescopes?
Yes all theses items can be insured.
Do you cover underwater camera equipment?
No, unfortunately we don't.
How do you determine whether I need the amateur or professional policy?
If any monetary gain is made from the sale of your work you would require the professional cover, even if this is not your main source of income.
I have previously made a claim, does this affect my cover?
Unfortunately we are unable to offer cover if a claim has been made in the previous two years at the same risk address as to that which you are proposing cover.
Do you cover UK residents?
Yes, cover is only available for residents of the United Kingdom, The Channel Islands, Isle of Man or Northern Ireland.
