Caravan Insurance

When is my touring caravan covered?
Your touring caravan will be covered at all times, whether in storage, at your property or on a site as long as the required Security Requirements have been met.
Where can I store my touring caravan?
The caravan must be located at:-
(a) the policyholder's place of residence or
(b) another person's place of residence on condition you have our express written agreement (family member)
(c) a securely locked and alarmed building; or
(d) a CASSOA Gold registered storage compound; or
(e) a securely fenced and locked storage compound with:-
(i) security lighting;
Is it covered whilst being towed?
Accidental damage is covered whilst the caravan is being towed although Public Liability cover will be provided by the insurance company of the towing vehicle.
Does the policy cover the cost of recovery (both at home and whilst abroad)?
The policy covers the cost of recovery within the UK following loss/damage as a result of any cause listed in section 1 of our Policy Wording. This should not be confused with breakdown recovery cover which our policy does not provide.
Does the policy include delivery to the repairer and then to your home?
Yes, this is included.
Is the policy new for old?
This varies between 1 and 5 years depending on the level of cover chosen and the age of the caravan.
Does it cover the costs of temporary accommodation?
Yes, temporary accommodation up to £50 per day (with a maximum of £2000) is provided depending on the level of cover chosen.
Does it offer a no-claims discount?
Not at present although this is something we may introduce in the future.
What is the policy excess?
It is £119 on all sections other than Public Liability where it is £150. Monthly policies benefit from no excess on certain sections of cover.
Does it offer a discount for extra security measures?
A 10% discount is available for using approved tracker devices, manufactured by Phantom and Tracker and 5% if your caravan is stored in a CASSOA Gold storage location.
Are members of my family covered to tow the caravan with my permission?
Your spouse is covered automatically to tow the caravan on this policy. You can add up to 3 additional family members to your policy. On our Vanguard 1 level of cover this costs £20 per year, however this is offered free on our Vanguard 2, 3 and 4 levels of cover.
Can anyone else use the caravan?
Only family members can be put on the policy.
Are there any caravans that you don't insure?
Yes, we don't cover any caravan that is wider than 7 ft 6 inches and any van with the door on the drivers side. We are also unable to insure Hobby, Tabbert or Knaus caravans.
Can you insure any accessories?
We will insure certain items such as motor movers and kitchen equipment, however things such as televisions and cloths we will not cover.
Is there a caravan age limit?
The maximum age of any caravan is 25 years old.
What are the age limits for the drivers?
The age limit for drivers is 25 to 75 years old.
Is there any cover for accessories/contents included?
The following accessories can be insured: Awning, Toilet tent, Generator, Motor mover, Stabiliser, Camping table/chairs, Refrigerators, Heater, Water carrier, Kitchen equipment/utensils, Security devices, Sleeping bags/bedding. We do not offer cover for any other contents.
Who is covered for towing the caravan?
The caravan can be towed by the policy holder and their spouse. Other family members can be added to the policy but an extra premium may be applicable depending on the cover you have selected.
Is there a minimum/maximum age for policy holders?
The minimum age is 25 years old and the maximum age is 75 years old.
