Hireguard from E&L® provides comprehensive Trailer Hire Insurance protecting your hired trailer on a short or long term basis.

Whether you are hiring a trailer for one day to attend a horse riding competition or require the use of a trailer for an extended hire period to use during the summer equestrian shows, we have the right policy for you. Insuring your hired trailer is a must if you want to protect yourself and third parties against the unexpected and do not want to lose out financially.

We provide three trailer hire insurance plans for you to choose from, Hireguard 1, 2 and 3. Hireguard 1 provides cover up to 31 days, Hireguard 2 up to 183 days and Hireguard 3 up to 365 days. All three or our trailer hire insurance plans offer the same level of comprehensive trailer hire insurance which includes £1.25m public liability and 100% fire, theft and accidental damage cover.

Excess

The excess is the amount you pay towards a claim. It is £49 on all sections except theft claims where the excess is £99 and Public Liability where it is £100.

There are currently no online discounts available

To be eligible for E&L® Trailer Hire Insurance the following conditions must be met:

  1. The policyholder is a UK resident aged over 18 years
  2. You must meet our security requirements
  3. The Hireguard 1 policy can only be set up with at least 12 hours notice prior to the start of the hire period.

  • Are there different levels of cover depending upon which Hireguard option you chose?
  • No. The only difference between the different Hireguard options is the duration of the policies. All levels of cover offer the same benefits. You get 100% fire, theft and accidental cover, £1.25million public liability cover and replacement hire (a maximum £100 per week for three weeks).

  • We can only insure you on the Hireguard 1 policy, if you have provided us with at least 12 hours notice before the start of the hire period.

  • Is there an age limit on the hire trailer?
  • Yes, the trailer must be no more than 5 years old

  • What are the security requirements?
  • The insured trailer must be clamped by a proper wheel clamp when not in use unless it is kept in a building that is totally enclosed and secure and is a permanent substantial structure of brick, stone or timber. The building must have doors kept locked by a patent 5-lever lock and windows secured with patent window locks. Trailers must be clamped by a proper wheel clamp when in use but unattended.
