With no upper age limit we are happy to insure your horse or pony even if they are over 15 years old when you take out the horse insurance policy.
We offer four different veteran horse insurance plans for older and mature horses. Each with a comprehensive list of cover with benefits including public liability, vet's fees, tack and personal accident.
Our benefits vary between the different levels of cover. We offer public liability cover up to £1.75m. This is essential as you are now liable for any damage or injury that your horse does to others regardless of whether you are negligent or not.
For many horse owners, vet fees cover is one of the most vital parts of the insurance policy. We offer vet's fees up to £6,000, giving you complete peace of mind. Cover for theft and straying is also offered up to £1,500.

Excess
The excess is the amount you pay towards a claim. It is £139 on all sections except Saddlery and Tack where it is £150 and Public Liability where it is £250.

The following discounts are available on E&L® Mature Horse Insurance:
- 30% online discount
- 5% multi horse discount (Please note that the maximum discount available is 30% per policy)
The total maximum discount per policy is 30%.
Introductory discounts provided only apply to new policies taken out online.
To be eligible for E&L® Mature Horse Insurance the following conditions must be met:
- The policyholder is a UK resident aged over 18 years
- The insured horse or pony must be 15 years or older. (For horses and ponies aged 31 days to 15 years please take a look at our Horse Insurance policy.)

- Cover for your mature horse is still comprehensive and protects the horse or pony owner for exactly the same sections as our standard horse policy. However there is no cover for illness or disease in horses over the age of 15.

- Yes, you can claim up to £1500 for dental cover. Dependant on the level of cover selected.

- My mature horse may be ridden by family and friends, is this ok and will they still be covered by my mature horse policy?
- Yes, your are able to allow friends and family to ride. The person riding must have the express permission from the owner and they must be aged between 5-65 years.
