- The first gay wedding is held in parliament

History was made when Foreign Office Minister Chris Bryant married Jared Cranney in a civil partnership ceremony held in the Houses of Parliament members’ dining room on Saturday. It was the first civil partnership to take place at the House of Parliament, John Bercow got the license from Westminster City Council which allowed the wedding to go ahead.
Chris Bryant and Jared Cranney are said to be “enormously grateful” to John Bercow and to Harriet Harman, the Leader of the Commons, for making the “really special day” possible.
