Members of the 8th Portsmouth Scout Group have visited a campsite in Shedfield to celebrate more than 100 years of the Scouts. The group went to Lyons Copse campsite to take part in organised activities and team games such as quad biking, archery, climbing and cooking. The group consisted of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers aged between five and seventeen years old. The older members of the group stayed for the duration of the week whereas the younger Beavers only stayed for one night. They all took part in the traditional scouting activities such as pioneering and endurance challenges.

Kirsty Moss, an assistant Cub Scout leader said “it was a big event for the children. We had special badges
made up to commemorate the anniversary and certificates to say ‘I was there when Scouts turned 100′ that they can keep. It is brilliant to see the children overcome challenges like being in a tent and being away from home.”
