An animal welfare officer has been notified last week that there was a pink cat in Swindon that was thrown over a fence. The RSPCA was trying to trace the owner of the pet that was dyed pink, but the person responsible for the deed has done this very carefully by avoiding the cat’s eyes and nose. They tried to wash the dye off, but without success, so the originally white cat will have to wait about a year to be back to her natural colour. The moggy is now recovering in a cat refuge, but seems happy and healthy and unaware of her unusual ‘hairdo’. The cat was aptly named Pink and one of the staff from the refuge commented: ‘Pink is so bright she almost glows in the dark.’, however, since then after a few baths, the cat sports a slightly paler coloured fur.

Furthermore, the colourful cat has now been claimed by her owner who has revealed that she used food dye to colour her cat’s fur to match her own pink hair. The owner added: ‘I read the instructions on the food colouring and there was nothing that would harm humans or animals. We eat the food the dye is used on, so I knew it wasn’t toxic.’
