Cat and dog insurance customers who are tormented by animals who regularly run away may be tempted to invest in a new piece of GPS equipment.
The Garmin GTU 10 tracking unit is fixed to the collar of the troublesome creature, so when it is absent from its owner, it can be located on an online map.
It might be perfect for those with dogs who regularly get lost on walks, because it is lightweight and waterproof.
Gadget lovers with iPhones or Android devices can also keep track of the location of their pets when they are on the move.
It even has the technology to send an SMS or email alert when pets stray beyond certain specified boundaries, so those with escapologist dogs will know as soon as they go walkabout.
Last month, KRTV warned canine owners who go for strolls with their beloved mutts to take extra care in the snow because it is easier for pooches to lose their way in this weather.
