- Pet insurance can help 20% of pet owners with vet fees
- February 2, 2010 | 0 Responses
GoCompare.com have conducted a survey which has shown 20% of pet owners would not be able to pay the vet fees bill should their pet require veterinary treatment. Research also showed that 60% of pet owners do not have pet insurance. If these people were given a vet bill for £500 or more then they would not be able to pay it. The research showed that the owners without pet insurance would pay for their pet’s vet bill using their income and savings and some people would even take out a personal loan in order to pay the bill. Therefore people are willing to put themselves into debt in order to give their pet the very best care. Some pet owners have admitted that they spend more on pet toys, treats and clothes than they do on pet insurance. The average spend on these treats is £120.84 a year. The average owner spends £241.68 every year on vet visits for their pet. John Miles from GoCompare is the head of development and says “our research shows that pet ownership can hit your wallet hard and that cat and dog owners are already spending close to £700 a year on each pet. Our survey also revealed that the majority of owners do not insure their pets, but skimping on insurance can be a false economy. Over the last ten years pet insurance has become more widely available and much more affordable.”
Comprehensive pet insurance is available for E&L Insurance. Dog insurance starts from as little as £5.87 a month and cat insurance starts from as little as £3.60 a month. Why not take out pet insurance to give you peace of mind? Next time your pet needs veterinary treatment you only have to worry about your pet getting better, let E&L pet insurance take the financial burden off you.
