The Palace of Monaco has stated that Prince Albert is to marry Charlene Wittstock in a civil ceremony in the Throne Room of Monaco’s Pink Palace on 8th July 2011. The Palace added that in addition to the civil ceremony, a religious ceremony will also be held on 9th July 2011 but the venue is yet to be confirmed. Sources say that the likely choice for the religious ceremony is Monaco’s Notre Dame of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral and it will be televised. The date of the nuptial will also mark the 6th year of Albert’s reign over the principality. Albert, the son of Prince Rainier and Grace Kelly succeeded his father after Rainier’s death and the succession was formalised on 12th July 2005. When Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier in 1956, the religious ceremony was also televised live.
