- August 17, 2009 | 0 Responses
Thousands of pounds worth of golf equipment has been stolen from Old Nene Golf Club shop in Muchwood. The Golf Club situated on the outskirts of Cambridge has had £2,000 worth of golf equipment pilfered.
The theft took place between 5pm on Wednesday 15th July and 6.30am on Thursday 16th July.
The golf shop’s window was broken and thieves are thought to have prised open the glass pane and pulled equipment through the security bars.
The majority of equipment stolen were golf clubs including irons, drivers, woods. Both men’s and women’s golf clubs were stolen. These clubs are easily identified as they are part of the MD golf range, with ladies clubs in pink and the men’s clubs in yellow.
The Crime and Incident Management Unit at March police station are requesting anyone to get in touch if they know any information on this crime. Their telephone number is 0345 456 4564 or you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
Unfortunately these crimes are becoming more and more common with a number of golf Clubs being broken into this summer alone, potentially putting customers equipment at risk of theft. Many golf clubs offer the facility for customers to store their clubs in lockers. Although these are often secure, in most cases thieves visit the clubs over the evening – often stealing tens of thousands of pounds worth of equipment in one go.
