Cover your staycation

This year has seen a rising number of Britons choosing to holiday in the UK, with 2 in 5 people stating that they are taking their main holiday in the UK this year because of financial concerns, rather than heading overseas for their trip. In a bid to cut costs, the trend to ‘staycation’ is on the up!

However, as people are holidaying in the UK are they taking out the same travel precautions and insurance as they would if travelling further afield or abroad. Travelling less miles doesn’t necessarily mean less problems. UK holidaymakers are still vulnerable to theft, damage, accidents and delayed travel on train, bad roads or on domestic flights. Maxine Baker, manager of travel insurance at Moneysupermarket.com states that “Many Brits may not even consider taking out travel insurance. However, it may be worth considering, especially if they are flying within the UK or taking expensive possessions with them.”
