- Flintstones Inspired Double Wedding
- December 4, 2009 | 0 Responses
Two couples decided to make their wedding completely different from the norm by holding a Flintstones – inspired Bedrock double wedding. Andrea and Simon Bean dressed up as Fred and Wilma and their friends Richard and Jill Noble dressed as Barney and Betty Rubble for their double wedding ceremony. The couples married at Weston Park Golf Club in Norwich on Saturday 22nd August. They were joined by 165 friends and family who also took part in the fun, dressing up from the stone-age wearing cavemen and cavewomen inspired outfits. The best men wore dinosaur outfits and the wedding cake was a tiered rock cake. The bride walked down the aisle to the traditional wedding march which soon changed to The Flintstones theme tune. The whole day was full of fun and the happy couples even travelled to a nearby dinosaur park to have their wedding photos taken.
Many people ask the couples why they chose to have a Flintstones inspired wedding rather than the traditional white wedding that many brides and grooms opt for. Mrs Bean responded by saying that the idea came from a day trip to Alton Towers where they were all joking that Mr Noble’s laugh sounded like Barney Rubble’s and that the idea escalated from there! The couples have been criticised for not taking the wedding seriously but Mrs Bean reassures everyone that they have taken their wedding vows very seriously and states “we couldn’t have had a better day.”
The couples decided against a traditional wedding gift list and asked instead for family and friends to donate money to the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation as it is a charity very close to Mrs Bean’s heart as her son Sam, now 15 years old had to have a liver transplant at just eight months old. The couples managed to raise a fantastic £1,200 on the day to donate to the foundation. Since Mrs Bean has started fund raising she has raised a staggering £27,000 for the charity.
