- Dog is rescued by man scattering his grandmother's ashes when wind blew him off pier

Bibi, a tiny Maltese-shitzu cross found himself being tossed around in the surging waves of Melbourne, Australia when strong winds blew him off Brighton pier. His owner Sue Drummond was left watching helplessly as her dog struggled in the waves. However, a 20 year old man who was on the pier at the time courageously dove into the sea to rescue the dog. He spotted Bibi whilst paying his respects to his grandmother, whose ashes he was scattering into the bay.
Raden Soemawinata was humble about his efforts, telling Melbourne’s Herald Sun, “it was pretty cold and windy, but it wasn’t such a hard decision to jump in, it wasn’t such a great feat”. Ms Drummond was hugely grateful to Bibi’s rescuer, embracing him when he returned with her dog in his arms.
