- Cob stars in Sky Sports spoof

Darkly Dreaming Dexter is a show cob from Oxfordshire. He featured in a Sky Sports spoof advert for the Sky Sports News Team. The advert was set in a period drama and ex-Harlequin’s rugby star, Mike Wedderburn was the person to be chosen to ride Dexter.
Dex’s owner, Sarah Edmunds said “I had five minutes to teach Mike to ride and look like he might fall off without actually falling! Thankfully he was excellent and picked it up very quickly.” Sky Sports had originally approached Sarah’s friend to use her horse but they soon decided that the horse was too small for Mike Wedderburn. However they introduced Sarah and Dexter to Sky Sports and they realised that he would be the perfect size. Sarah was extremely proud of Dexter, “he kept to all his marks and even managed to shoot multiple takes with the footman, Jim White, without standing on his foot once”. Sky Sports producer commented on Dexter’s role, “Dexter was an utter professional and, despite his extensive ‘rider’ demands – own trailer, hay and two staff! – we wouldn’t hesitate working with him again.”
