Pet insurance customers might be tickled by the tale of Norman the Briard, whose favourite pastime is riding his scooter.

The 20-month-old pooch has become an internet sensation with a strong Facebook following and thousands of YouTube hits on videos of him in action, reports the Daily Mail.

He has even made his television debut, featuring on David Letterman’s show.

Owner Karen Cobb revealed that he first tried travelling on wheels when he was a pup and, since then, he has never looked back.

“He began playing with the kid’s scooter in the backyard and we thought it would be fun to give him a ride on it … now he loves riding his scooter,” she commented.

Dog lovers with adventurous young animals might consider taking out puppy insurance to help them meet vet bills if their pooches are injured.

Another dog who loves an unusual form of transport is a Jack Russell Terrier called the General, who has logged more than 40 paragliding expeditions with his owner.
