Ian Scotland, an amateur photographer has worked in Crawley Down for the past two months taking photographs of people who work and live in Crawley Down. The subjects of the photographs were asked to comment next to their photo by leaving a message for someone in 100 years time. The photographs and messages are currently on display in
the Haven Centre which is situated in the village. The photographs will then by archived and will be displayed again in 50 years.Mr Scotland won The Times Travel Photography Competition last month. He comments on his work, saying “The thing that I’ve got out of it is the greater appreciation of the community spirit that exists here. It’s been quite remarkable the number of comments we’ve had around people wanting the village to remain as it is and keep that sense of community.” Mr Scotland is hoping that through his photography that he has captured the village community spirit amongst the people of Crawley Down.
