Hilary Swank has been named as the Iams 2009 ambassador. The two-time winning Academy Award-winning actress has pledged her support to Iams Home 4 the Holidays (IH4TH) campaign. The campaign is aiming to re-home 1.5million pets
in the period from October 2009 – January 4th 2010. This is an extra 500,000 to the campaign last year which saw 1 million pets be re-homed in the space of three months last year.
Hilary Swank comments “I’m so proud to be working with Iams Home 4 the Holidays to help raise awareness about the importance of pet adoption.”
Swank is hoping to use her own personal experiences with pet adoption to educate others and hope to encourage other people to adopt rather than purchasing a dog or cat from a breeder or pet shop. Hilary Swank boosts that the benefits are enormous and would recommend adoption to everyone considering getting a pet. She has adopted her two dogs, Karoo and Rumi. She rescued Karoo from a dangerous road side situation in South Africa and adopted Rumi from a participating Iams Home 4 The Holidays shelter in Los Angeles.
Mark Arms, the founder of the campaign says “Now more than ever orphaned animals need our help and who better to give them a voice than Hilary? Along with Hilary and her inspiration our 3,500 animal organisations are working to shine a big spotlight on the need to help the nearly 8 million homeless pets in our country and are committed to helping raise awareness about the importance of pet adoption.”
As Hilary Swank has a genuine passion for animals it is hoped that she can guide the campaign into reaching their target of re-homing 1.5million pets in the three month period.
